Which image formats are supported?
· LACOP supports JPEG, PNG and WebP — GIF, SVG and ICO are not allowed.
Which image formats are supported?
LACOP accepts three photo formats: JPEG, PNG and WebP. Others are rejected for security and quality reasons.
Supported formats
| Format | Extension | Recommended for |
|---|---|---|
| JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg |
Photos, portraits, shoots |
| PNG | .png |
Graphics with transparency |
| WebP | .webp |
Modern web photos (already optimized) |
Not supported
- ❌ GIF — poor image quality for portfolios
- ❌ SVG — security risk (can contain scripts)
- ❌ BMP, TIFF, HEIC, RAW — not web-optimized, too large
- ❌ ICO — meant for favicons, not portfolio photos
What happens with a wrong format?
If you try to upload an unsupported format, you get an error message and that upload is cancelled. Other photos in the same upload aren't affected.
My photo is HEIC/RAW — what now?
iPhone (HEIC):
- iOS Settings → Camera → Formats → choose "Most Compatible"
- From then on photos are captured as JPEG
Already existing HEIC/RAW files:
- Export them as JPEG from your photo app (Lightroom, Photoshop, Apple Photos, Affinity)
- Then upload them normally
Automatic conversion
No matter which supported format you upload — LACOP converts everything to WebP. That saves storage and makes your portfolio faster. The original on your device isn't changed.
Quality loss?
WebP compression is practically lossless for portfolio photos. The difference is invisible to the naked eye, but the file is typically 20-40% smaller.
