How do I add a photographer credit?
Photographer credit matters — legally and as a thank-you to the photographer. LACOP has a dedicated field so the credit stays visible.
How to do it
- Open Photos (
/dashboard/media) - Click a photo
- In the edit panel find the "Photographer" or "Credit" field
- Enter the name or Instagram handle (e.g.
@markusklausnerorMarkus Klausner) - Click "Save"
What can go in?
- Name (e.g. "Maria Müller")
- Instagram handle (e.g. "@marialens")
- Studio name (e.g. "Studio Lumen Berlin")
- Combined (e.g. "Maria Müller / @marialens")
Limit: 200 characters.
Why does credit matter?
- Copyright: The photographer owns rights to their image. Credit is often required
- Networking: Other creators see the photographer and can book them
- Professionalism: Shows you work cleanly
- Fairness: The photographer often shot you for free — credit is the minimum
Is the credit shown publicly?
Yes — on your public portfolio the credit is shown under the photo (depending on design).
What if I don't know the photographer?
Leave the field empty — better no credit than a wrong one. If the photo is from archives (old shoots), at least add credits for newer shoots.
Tip: social media handles
If you enter @nickname, your visitors can jump directly to the photographer's Instagram (if your portfolio theme supports it).
